£36,000 Claim for Ms C – Mis-sold Teak Tree Plantation SIPP

Background

Ms C had all her retirement savings in a private pension fund worth approximately £36,000. She was inexperienced with financial dealings and was reliant upon this money for her future retirement. As a result, she required a low-risk pension option that would keep her capital secure.

Mis-sold High-Risk SIPP

She was contacted by a company recommending significantly better returns by transferring the full amount to a Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) with Berkeley Burke.

She agreed to the transfer, and Berkeley Burke allowed the SIPP to be invested in teak tree plantations in Brazil. This was a high-risk, unregulated and speculative form of pension investment.

Financial Consequences

The fund is now illiquid with no returns. The prospects of Ms C receiving any sort of return on the SIPP are deemed to be low.

Current Claim and Amount

We are representing her in a claim to recover the full capital plus interest. The total claim exceeds £36,000 and is ongoing.
